Privately Diagnosed - ADHD.

If you choose a Private service provider for an ADHD assessment, and are then diagnosed with ADHD and require medication, we are unable to accept a shared care agreement (which would take over prescribing your medication) directly from any service other than Psychiatry-UK (for adults) and CAMHS (for children).

If a diagnosis of ADHD is made with your chosen Private provider and you then decide you require ADHD medication to be taken over by NHS, we would refer you to Psychiatry-UK/CAMHS for a medication review with your diagnosis confirmation from your private provider (which could take some time depending on Psychiatry-UK’s/CAMHS waiting times).

Once seen by Psychiatry-UK/CAMHS, we can accept a shared care agreement with them to take over prescribing of medication. Until we have a medication shared care agreement with you in place, you will solely be responsible for arranging and paying for any ADHD medication privately.

The same process also applies for adults if you choose the 'Right to Choose' pathway.

If you are in any doubt please call the surgery and ask to speak to our Patient Care Co-ordinators (PCC Team) who will explain further.
